About

What is Psychiatry?

Psychiatry is the medical treatment of mental health issues ranging from anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder.

What is a Psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has specialised in treating mental illnesses. They evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe treatment for mental illnesses in the form of medication or other forms of therapy. A psychiatrist is the one at the helm of a multidisciplinary team and refers patients to psychologists and other mental or physical health therapists as part of a treatment or management plan.

Welcome to Dr. Nadia Baker's Mental Health Care Practice

Who is Dr Nadia Baker?

Dr. Nadia Baker is a compassionate and experienced psychiatrist based in Pretoria.

With a strong educational background, she graduated from the University of Pretoria and gained valuable experience during her internship and community service. Dr. Baker’s passion for mental health care emerged during her time as a medical officer at Tshwane District Hospital, where she provided primary mental health care services to the local community. Building on this foundation, she further honed her skills at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital for four years. Driven by her commitment to excellence, she completed her Master’s degree in psychiatry at the University of Pretoria and pursued a fellowship in psychiatry at The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.

Dr. Baker firmly believes in practicing evidence-based medicine and staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of psychiatry. She embraces a multidisciplinary treatment approach, prescribing medication only when absolutely necessary.

In her holistic approach to mental health care, Dr. Baker collaborates with a team of mental health professionals, including psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and physiotherapists. As a private practitioner, she is dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare with compassion at the core of her practice.
